Give us some background; why are you here, now:
I have worked with content for nearly a decade, ping-ponging between writing and marketing roles in orgs ranging from tiny non-profits to Fortune 500s. Content Matterz lets me do the things I love while surrounding me with the smartest people I have ever worked alongside.
What’s a fun fact that makes you, you?
At age 29, with no job lined up or friends to help me get settled, I packed up/sold everything I owned, stuffed two cats into one carrier, bought a one-way plane ticket, and moved to Seattle from Chicago. It was the most wonderful, freeing time of my life and made me realize I can accomplish anything I set my mind to.
What do you enjoy doing outside of your 9-to-5?
Travel, music shows, cooking, and reading all of the books (mostly fiction).
What/who inspires your life?
Sometimes, the smallest, most-seemingly insignificant moments can have the greatest impact. The magic in life is not knowing what — or who — will stick.
What motivates you to do what you do here, and how do you contribute to the client experience
I spent over a decade in food service, and it was always about making each customer think that their experience was more important to me than anything else so they would feel valued and become a repeat guest. Now, as a writer, that translates to truly empathizing with the reader to help them solve their biggest problems. But, borrowing from my previous life, I try to craft content that is also enjoyable to read, so they want to keep returning to my copy to learn more.
Also, have been known to go on at length about the difference between a hyphen and an em dash because I believe correctly used punctuation is like an expensive finishing salt for a delicately prepared dish — it can make the meal.
